APRAJITA — THE UNCONQUERED

Draupadi stands at the centre of the composition with a quiet, unyielding presence. In her hand is a flame, contained yet persistent, suggesting a strength that is neither declared nor diminished.

The five Pandavas appear through symbols rather than form: bow and arrow, mace, horse, celestial wheel, and crown. Krishna is indicated only by a peacock feather, minimal and unobtrusive.

The dice sit near Draupadi’s head as a fixed reference to the moment of wager that altered the course of her life and the events that followed. Earthy cubist structure and restrained abstraction hold the composition in tension rather than narrative clarity.

The work holds its focus on dignity, consequence, and endurance within an ancient historical continuum.

ASHTA PEHAR : THE RHYTHM OF TIME

Inspired by Ashta Pehar, the ancient Indian concept of dividing the day into eight distinct periods, this painting explores the changing rhythm of time through colour, texture and atmosphere. Rooted in Hindu sacred tradition yet universal in its reflection of nature's daily cycle, the work invites contemplation of time as a continuous flow rather than a sequence of measured hours.

Beginning in the profound stillness of Brahma Muharat (the sacred pre-dawn hours), the composition gradually awakens through the first glow of dawn. into the brilliance of clear morning skies. It expands into the vitality of midday, softens with the warmth of afternoon, glows with the richness of sunset, and finally dissolves into the quiet mystery of night.

Rather than separating each pehar, the colours melt seamlessly into one another. Every layer retains subtle traces of the one before it, expressing the idea that each moment carries the memory of what has passed. Rich textures, expressive brushwork and a Wabi-Sabi aesthetic create a contemplative surface that rewards slow viewing.

Ashta Pehar: The Rhythm of Time is an invitation to pause and experience time as it is found in nature: cyclical, ever-changing and deeply connected to the rhythms of life.

‍ ‍MONSOON DYPTYCHS

‍Monsoon Dyptychs Baras and Tham were created from the 9th floor of a Pali Hill apartment in Mumbai, in direct response to the unfolding monsoon during the rain and in its aftermath. These works are seen as a pair that capture the shifting emotional rhythm of the day, where stillness meets release. Baras reflects the intensity and overflow of rainfall in motion, while Tham holds the anticipation of gathering skies.

Each work is available as a limited edition fine art print.

EMERGENCE OF THE UNIVERSE

This collection explores creation through a symbolic and contemporary lens. Drawing from cosmology, sacred traditions, and the language of myth, the series traces the unfolding of existence from the first vibration and primordial energy to the emergence of galaxies, matter, and consciousness.

Selected works from this series are available as limited edition prints.

KAMADHENU

This work came from a quiet interest in Kamadhenu, the wish-fulfilling cow in Indian mythology, often seen as a symbol of abundance and grace. I was not trying to depict her literally, but more to spend time with what she represents: generosity, protection, and something that feels endless and difficult to define. In making this piece, it became less about illustration and more about feeling. Ancient symbols like this still shape how we see the world today, even if we are not always aware of it.
