Ashta Pehar - The Rhythm of Time
Ashta Pehar is inspired by the ancient Indian concept of dividing the day into eight distinct periods, each carrying its own atmosphere, energy and quiet transformation. Rooted in Hindu sacred tradition yet universal in its reflection of nature's daily rhythm, this work explores time through colour rather than chronology.
Beginning in the profound stillness of Brahma Muharat (the sacred pre-dawn hours), the composition gradually awakens through the first glow of dawn into the clarity of morning skies. It expands into the brilliance of midday, softens through the warmth of afternoon, glows with the richness of sunset and finally dissolves into the contemplative silence of night.
Rather than separating each pehar, the colours melt seamlessly into one another like layers of memory. Every passage retains traces of what came before, creating a continuous visual rhythm that reflects the cyclical nature of existence. Rich textures, expressive brushwork and a Wabi-Sabi sensibility invite the viewer to slow down and experience the quiet beauty of time unfolding.
